INTRODUCTION
Volunteers are very important to the Grainger County Humane Society (GCHS). Whether you have an hour a week - or an hour a month - the GCHS relies on the assistance of caring, hardworking volunteers to help our animals find forever homes. The GCHS takes in about 600 animals each year and to continue our work, we need your help as a volunteer. Our organization offers volunteer opportunities within the Foster Care Program involving animals and other activities without animals. There are many, many ways you can be involved.
ANIMAL RELATED VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES

Walk foster dogs

Cuddle foster cats

Bathe and groom foster animals

Transport animals to local vet apointments

Transport animals to rescues

Take animals to Adopt-a-thon events

Take animals to nursing homes, hospitals for visitations

Foster animals in your home
NON-ANIMAL RELATED VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES

Writing and submitting applications for Grants

Help with special events - rummage sales, membership drives, fundraisers, etc

Set up and decorate for special events

Bake items or cook for our special events

Volunteer your handman services-inside repairs, cleaning, painting, fix-ups

Foster home maintenance - outside- mow grass, trim trees, trim shrubs

Legal preparatory work and follow up on abuse court cases

Offer your computer skills

Participate on a committee - education, fundraising, etc.

Help design and maintain our website
VOUNTEER APPLICATION
All Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age or accompanied by an adult, and abide by the foster/volunteer policy. It is as simple as completing a Volunteer Application and submitting it. It will automatically be forwarded to a GCHS representative and you will be contacted shortly.
